Banksy is a mysterious European graffiti artist that does amazing work with paint and stencils on urban walls. His graffiti depicts witty political messages of peace and anti-consumerism. Ever since watching Exit Through the Gift Shop I have been fascinated by his work. It is amazing just how beautiful many of his paintings are, while still striking a chord with their poignant social commentary. I am especially moved by his paintings on the Bethlehem/West Bank security walls. Clearly, he is taking a different approach to Andy Warhol’s sentiment: “Art is what you can get away with.”
