Five Guys rocks!

Leaving Best Buy the other day I noticed a new burger joint called “Five Guys” was opening up – how exciting. My friend Jason beat me to the punch and ate there at least twice before I got around to telling Erin about it and of course we were instantly out the door and headed there for dinner. The place is great – simple menu, fresh ingredients and it knows what it is – a burger joint, that simple. It reminded me of In-n-Out in California but the dining area is far less fast food in appearance.

While waiting in line there is a big box of peanuts you can snack on, which Ella loved. She loves all nuts, but I don’t think she had cracked peanuts out of their shell before – she was very excited to find them easier then the Pistachios we have at home.

I ordered the Cheeseburger with onions and jalapenos and Erin ordered one with whatever (they have a lot of fun topping choices) and we got Ella her usual plain burger. I had already been clued in that the regular fry is enough to feed 2-3 people so we shared one of those. They fill a cup with fries and then put like two extra scoops in the bag – so if you love “bag fries” this is the place for you.

It was delicious! The “cheeseburgers” are in fact doubles – but not obscenely large. I don’t typically order doubles but am usually dissatisfied with a single small burger – so these were perfect. (Although on my first visit I did get a second “little cheeseburger” (a single) just to be sure they really were as delicious as I thought – they were. On my next visit one was plenty – I learned that I just needed to eat it slower and not inhale it.)

Funny thing is that who should wander into Five Guys while we were trying it out for the first time – Jason. I guess he loves the place.

So after telling another friend, Mark, about the Five Guys yesterday he asked me to lunch today and there was no hesitation in heading there for another round of burger heaven. I am sure the whole family will go back too soon – and odds are both Jason and Mark will both be there.
