Stupid Files: Gap Card sends us a 24 cent check

So, I have started saving up really stupid things companies do, and this is Exhibit A – a check that our Gap Card sent us for 24 cents! So, lets think about this, they paid someone in accounting to process a payment, the check was printed on fancy stock, stuffed in an envelope and postage added. So they spent at least a dollar when everything is considered, just to send us a a 24 cent check that we will never waste our time or gas to go cash. All they had to do was leave this tiny credit (or any size credit) on the card until Erin buys the next cute GAP outfit for herself or the girls. Crazy.

Happy 7th Anniversary

Today is our 7th Anniversary, its hard to believe our wedding was that long ago already! Last night, we went out to celebrate and had a really great time. We dressed up a little more than usual for our date night of dinner and a movie, so we wanted to get our picture taken. The photo booth at the theater was our only option, but I think its a pretty accurate portrait. It so nice to get out and not be rushed. Marriage and kids is a busy life, but its been a wonderful 7 years, not to mention the 7 carefree years before that when life was a bit simpler. Thanks for sticking with me, honey!

DINNER: We tried Baker Street finally and it was “awesome” – both the food and service were exceptional. I ordered Escargot appetizer in remembrance of the snails we ate on our honeymoon cruise. Their special was bacon-wrapped Mahi atop parmeasan risotto with grilled asparagus. Yum, it was to die for. We also ordered a bottle of wine I had been wanting to try – beaujolais-villages, it was delish. After dinner we enjoyed our complimentary chocolate cake.

MOVIE: We saw Contagion and now I am extremely paranoid of novel viruses, and want to move to the wilderness to avoid society’s germs. Besides that, it was a pretty good flick – reminded me of Soderbergh’s 2000 hit, Traffic.

Back to running…again

You may remember way back in October I was tricked into running a 5k and hurt my knee in “training” for it. Well, that knee injury lingered for a long time and right about when it was better, I started playing basketball once a week so did not resume running. I started feeling healthier than I had in years. Unfortunately our basketball season ended when Jason’s girlish calf muscle tore. I have been without exercise ever since, and now both my weight and blood glucose have gone up dramatically!

So today, I laced my fancy running shoes back up and ran 1 mile and walked another 1/2 mile. I am only telling the world (all 3 of you) this so I have extra motivation to do it again – daily or at least weekly. Of course later tonight I ate two pieces of delicious apple cheesecake, so today is a wash.

oh crap, I just realized I wrote basically this same exact post in November! I can explain – the knee really did start flaring up again – that’s my story and I am sticking to it. And yes, this time I mean it – I am running again. (eventually)

Juno takes unique photo of Earth and Moon

Earth (on the left) and the moon (on the right) photographed by NASA’s Juno spacecraft on Aug. 26, 2011, when the spacecraft was about 6 million miles away. The photo was taken by the spacecraft on its journey to Jupiter – it will arrive in August 2016.

Aboard the above-mentioned Juno spacecraft are three Lego passengers: Jupiter, Juno and Galileo, each costing $5,000 to craft out of aluminum.
