CAKE is coming! CAKE is coming!
About two years ago I signed up for the alt rock band Cake’s email newsletter hoping that someday they would actually play a Midwest show. Well this morning I opened their email update and there it was: July 11 – Indianapolis, IN @ The Vogue
Tickets went on sale at 10am this morning and I rung up two of them at about 10:15! Yay – I am going to see Cake! (Kevo is going with me, since Erin is unable)
So, why am I so excited? Well, back in the fall of 1996 I saw this video and the song has ever since been in my music library and any mp3 player. But it wasn’t until years later it dawned on me to check out their other songs and was amazed. Of all the bands I like, they are one of the few if not the only one that I truly enjoy listening to every song they have ever recorded – that is unusual! Usually there are a few stinkers in the bunch, I mean even my favorite album of all time, The Wall by Pink Floyd, an album that I consider to be nearly a perfect art form has “Dirty Women (Young Lust)” that seemed wildly out of place.
In case The Distance is not your thing (which I am sure it is not for everyone), at least go to Groove Shark and listen to a few of their songs:

Oh my god. I am forwarding this to Tyler PIppin immediately. He is a HUGE cake fan, he’ll be so excited!
